Aaliyah is an Arabic feminine name derived from the root a-l-w, carrying the meaning of high, exalted, or sublime. It is the feminine form of Ali and Aali, and shares its root with the related name Aliyah, which also appears in Hebrew with the additional sense of ascending or immigrating to Israel.
