Ada

Ada is of Germanic origin, derived from the element adal, meaning noble, and likely arose as a short form of longer names beginning with that root, such as Adelaide or Adalheidis. It was borne by Ada of Caria, a fourth-century BCE queen who aided Alexander the Great, and later gained widespread use in the English-speaking world partly through Ada Lovelace, the nineteenth-century mathematician often credited as the first computer programmer. The name shares roots with Adele, Adelaide, and Adeline, all built on the same adal element.
