Adriene is a Brazilian Portuguese feminine form of Adrian, which derives from the Latin Adrianus, meaning "from Hadria," referring to the ancient northern Italian town that also gave its name to the Adriatic Sea. The root place name Hadria is of uncertain pre-Latin origin, possibly Etruscan or Illyrian.
