Adrienne

Adrienne is the French feminine form of Adrien, itself derived from the Latin Hadrianus, meaning "from Hadria," a town in northern Italy that also gave its name to the Adriatic Sea. The Roman emperor Hadrian, known for building Hadrian's Wall across Britain, is among the most famous historical bearers of the root name. Adrienne has been used in English-speaking countries since at least the nineteenth century, carried largely through French cultural influence.
