Agnija

Agnija is a South Slavic and Latvian feminine form of the Latin name Agnes, which itself derives from the Greek Hagne, rooted in the Greek word hagnos meaning pure or chaste. The name became widespread across Christian cultures through the veneration of Saint Agnes of Rome, a young martyr of the early fourth century who became one of the most celebrated virgin saints of the Western church.
