Aloisia

Aloisia is the Latinate feminine form of Aloisius, itself a Latinized version of the Old Frankish name Hlodwig, composed of the elements hlud, meaning famous, and wig, meaning war or battle. The name entered wider use through the veneration of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, a sixteenth-century Italian Jesuit who became the patron saint of youth. Aloisia remains rare but appears chiefly in German-speaking regions as a formal feminine counterpart to the more common Alois.
