Aloysius

Aloysius is a Latinized form of Alois, itself a Provençal or Old Occitan variant of Louis, which derives from the Old Frankish name Chlodowig, composed of elements meaning fame and warrior. The name gained widespread use in the Catholic world through Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, a sixteenth-century Italian nobleman who became the patron saint of youth and students.
