Alys

Alys is a medieval Welsh and British form of Alice, itself derived through Old French Aalis from the Germanic name Adalheidis, composed of the elements adal, meaning noble, and heid, meaning kind or type. The name was common throughout medieval Britain and France following the Norman Conquest, carried by figures such as Alys of France, a twelfth-century princess and daughter of Louis VII.
