Baldovino

Baldovino is the Italian form of a Germanic name composed of the elements bald, meaning bold or brave, and win, meaning friend. The name entered Italian through medieval contact with Germanic-speaking peoples, particularly the Franks, and was borne by several Latin rulers of the Crusader state of Jerusalem, where the Latinized form Balduinus was common among the nobility. It is cognate with the French Baudouin, the Spanish Balduino, and the English Baldwin.
