Cai

Cai carries two distinct origins. In Welsh mythology and the Arthurian tradition, it derives from the Latin Caius, itself rooted in an ancient Roman praenomen of uncertain but possibly Etruscan origin, and was borne by one of King Arthur's chief knights, known in later French and English retellings as Kay. In Scandinavian use, Cai functions as a rare variant of Kai, which is itself linked to the Low German and Frisian name Kaimbe, meaning warrior. Related forms include Kay, Kai, and Caius.
