Caja

Caja is a Scandinavian and Low German contracted form of Katharina, itself derived from the ancient Greek name Aikaterine, whose root meaning is debated but commonly associated with the Greek word katharos, meaning pure. The name has long been used in northern Germany and the Nordic countries as an everyday diminutive of the longer Katharina. It shares its ultimate ancestry with the widely used Katherine, Katrina, and Kajsa.
