Carrie

Carrie is an English diminutive of Caroline or sometimes Carolyn, names ultimately derived from the Latin Carolus, itself a Latinized form of the Germanic name Karl, meaning man or free man. The name gained independent use as a given name in the nineteenth century, particularly in the United States. It is associated with the American temperance activist Carrie Nation and the fictional protagonist of Stephen King's 1974 novel.
