Carrie

Carrie is an English diminutive of Caroline or Carol, which derive ultimately from the Latin Carolus, the Latinized form of the Germanic name Karl, meaning free man or simply man. The name gained wide independent use in the nineteenth century, particularly in the United States and Britain. It is associated with the American temperance activist Carry Nation and was popularized further in fiction and popular culture throughout the twentieth century.
