Christy

Christy is an English diminutive and pet form of Christine or Christopher, both of which derive from the Latin Christianus and ultimately from the Greek Christos, meaning anointed one, itself a translation of the Hebrew Mashiach. The name came into widespread use in the Christian world as a way of expressing devotion to or association with Christ. Christy has long been used for both males and females, particularly in Ireland and Scotland, where it remains a familiar form of Christopher for men.
