Corinne

Corinne is a French form of the Latin name Corinna, itself derived from the ancient Greek name Korinna, based on the Greek root kore meaning girl or maiden. The ancient Greek lyric poet Korinna of Tanagra, said to have been a rival or teacher of Pindar, is among the earliest known bearers of the name. The name gained wider European currency partly through Germaine de Staël's influential 1807 novel Corinne, which popularized it as a literary and romantic choice.
