Dorris is an English variant of Doris, a name derived from the ancient Greek Doris, referring to the Dorians, a Greek people whose name may itself connect to a word meaning gift. In Greek mythology, Doris was a sea nymph and daughter of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys.
