Eerikki

Eerikki is the Finnish form of Eric, ultimately derived from the Old Norse name Eiríkr, composed of the elements ei, meaning ever or always, and ríkr, meaning ruler or king. The name reached Scandinavia and Finland through medieval usage and became firmly established in Finnish culture, partly through Saint Erik of Sweden, patron saint of Sweden, who was venerated across the Nordic region. Eerikki is closely tied to its Finnish short form Erkki, as well as the Swedish Erik, the English Eric, and the Estonian Eerik.
