Elina

Elina is a Scandinavian and Finnic form of Helen, ultimately derived from the ancient Greek Helene, whose root meaning is debated but commonly associated with the Greek word for torch or light, or alternatively linked to Selene, the moon goddess. The name spread across Northern Europe through Christian veneration of Saint Helena, mother of the Roman emperor Constantine the Great. Elīna serves as the standard Latvian adaptation of the same name. Related forms include Elena, Elin, and Helena.
