Elis

Elis is a Scandinavian and medieval English form of Elias, itself the Latin and Greek rendering of the Hebrew name Eliyyahu, meaning my God is Yahweh. The name was borne by the biblical prophet Elijah, whose story in the Hebrew scriptures gave the name wide circulation throughout medieval Christian Europe.
