Elizabeta

Elizabeta is the Slovene, Croatian, and Macedonian form of Elizabeth, which derives from the Hebrew name Elisheba, composed of the elements el, meaning God, and sheva, meaning oath or perhaps seven. The name appears in the Hebrew Bible as the wife of Aaron, and its New Testament bearer, Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, helped establish it as one of the most widely used female names in Christian Europe.
