Franck

Franck is the French form of Frank, a name derived from the Germanic tribal name of the Franks, whose own name may stem from a Proto-Germanic root meaning spear or from a word related to the concept of free. The Franks were the Germanic people who gave their name to France, and their dominant position in medieval Europe made franc a byword for freedom in Old French.
