Fredrika

Fredrika is a Scandinavian and German feminine form of the Old High German name Friedrich, composed of the elements frid, meaning peace, and rīhhi, meaning ruler or power, giving the overall sense of peaceful ruler. The name became widely used in Sweden partly through the influence of Fredrika of Baden, queen consort of Sweden in the early nineteenth century, and the celebrated Swedish author Fredrika Bremer, a pioneering feminist writer. Equivalent forms in other languages include Frederica in English and Italian, Frédérique in French, and Friederike in German.
