Gina

Gina originated as an Italian short form of names ending in -gina, most commonly Georgina, Luigina, or Regina, the last of which derives from the Latin regina, meaning queen. It came into broader independent use in English-speaking countries and Scandinavia during the twentieth century, partly influenced by the Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida, whose fame helped spread the name internationally.
