Hagne

Hagne is an ancient Greek feminine name derived from the adjective hagnos, meaning pure, holy, or chaste. It was borne by several figures in Greek antiquity, including a nymph associated with the spring of Hagne in Arcadia that was said to feed the river Alpheus. The name is closely related to Hagna and is considered an early form of the more widely known Agné, which passed into Latin ecclesiastical use as Agnes and spread throughout medieval Europe.
