Henny

Henny is a Germanic diminutive of names beginning with the element heim, meaning home, or of Henrietta and Hendrika, themselves feminine forms of Heinrich, from the Old High German haganrih, meaning ruler of the enclosure or home ruler. It has long been used as a familiar pet form in German, Dutch, and Scandinavian-speaking communities, and gained independent standing as a given name in its own right. The American comedian Henny Youngman brought the name wider recognition in the twentieth century. Related forms include Henny as a short form of Henning, as well as Hennie and Heni.
