Ibbie

Ibbie is an English pet form and diminutive of Isabel, which itself is a medieval Iberian adaptation of Elizabeth, derived from the Hebrew name Elisheba, meaning something along the lines of my God is an oath or my God is abundance. The name was carried into Spanish and Portuguese as Isabel following the spread of the cult of Saint Elizabeth of the Old Testament, and shorter familiar forms like Ibbie, Ibby, and Tibbie emerged in Scottish and northern English usage.
