Ilsa

Ilsa is a German contracted form of Elisabeth, itself derived from the Hebrew name Elisheba, meaning something along the lines of my God is an oath or my God is abundance. The name gained wide international recognition through the character Ilsa Lund in the 1942 film Casablanca, played by Ingrid Bergman. It shares its roots with the more common German variant Ilse, as well as the broader family of Elisabeth forms found across European languages, including Elsa, Elise, and Lisa.
