Ilse

Ilse is a German and Dutch short form of Elisabeth, itself derived from the Hebrew name Elisheba, meaning something along the lines of my God is an oath or my God is abundance. The name has been used throughout German-speaking and Low Countries regions for centuries, carried by the widespread veneration of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and other prominent bearers of the Elisabeth family of names.
