Isadora

Isadora is the feminine form of Isidore, derived through Latin Isidorus from the Greek name Isidoros, composed of the elements Isis, the name of the Egyptian goddess, and doron, meaning gift, giving the overall sense gift of Isis. The name was borne by several early Christian saints, most notably Isidore of Seville, a seventh-century scholar, though the feminine form gained particular cultural resonance through the American dancer Isadora Duncan, a pioneer of modern dance in the early twentieth century.
