Iulia

Iulia is the Latin feminine form of the Roman family name Iulius, itself of uncertain but possibly Etruscan or Greek origin; one proposed derivation connects it to the Greek Ioulos, meaning downy-bearded or first beard, though this remains debated. The name belonged to the illustrious Julian gens of ancient Rome, most famously associated with Julius Caesar, and was borne by several prominent women of the imperial period. Iulia remains in active use today particularly in Romanian and Georgian, representing the direct continuation of the classical Latin form. Julia and Julie are among its most widespread modern cognates.
