Janetta

Janetta is an English and Scottish feminine diminutive of Janet, which itself derives from the Old French Janette, a diminutive form of Jeanne, the French feminine equivalent of John. John traces back through Latin Iohannes and Greek Ioannes to the Hebrew name Yohanan, meaning God is gracious. Janetta enjoyed particular use in Scotland during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, where Janet and its variants were especially popular.
