Janey

Janey is an English diminutive and pet form of Jane, which itself derives from the Old French Jehanne, a feminine adaptation of the Latin Iohannes. That Latin form traces back through Greek Iōannēs to the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning God is gracious. Janey has been used as both an affectionate nickname and an independent given name in English-speaking countries since at least the nineteenth century.
