Jeanette

Jeanette is a French diminutive of Jeanne, the feminine form of Jean, which derives from the Latin Iohannes and ultimately from the Hebrew Yohanan, meaning God is gracious. The name became widely used across Europe during the medieval period, carried partly by the enduring popularity of the feminine name Jeanne. Scottish and English-speaking countries adopted Jeanette enthusiastically from the 18th century onward, and the Swedish soprano Jenny Lind, whose full name was Johanna Maria, helped spread related forms across the 19th-century world.
