Jenny

Jenny originated as a medieval English pet form of Jane, which itself derives from the Old French Jehanne, ultimately tracing back to the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning God is gracious. By the 18th and 19th centuries Jenny had become widely used as an independent given name across Northern and Western Europe, carried in part by its association with the celebrated Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, known as the Swedish Nightingale.
