Jeronim is a South Slavic form of the Latin Hieronymus, itself derived from the Greek Hieronymos, composed of the elements hieros, meaning sacred or holy, and onyma, meaning name, thus carrying the sense of one who bears a holy name. The name is closely associated with Saint Jerome, the fourth-century scholar and Church Father who produced the Latin Vulgate Bible translation, making the name widely adopted across Christian communities.
