Jezza

Jezza is an informal English pet form of Jeremy or Gerald, both ultimately rooted in Germanic elements. Jeremy derives from the Hebrew Yirmeyahu, meaning something like "God will uplift" or "appointed by God," while Gerald traces to the Old High German elements ger (spear) and wald (rule). Jezza gained particular cultural currency in British English as a familiar nickname, notably attached to television presenter Jeremy Clarkson and politician Jeremy Corbyn.
