Jimi

Jimi is an English variant spelling of Jimmy, itself a diminutive of James, which derives from the Latin Iacomus, a form of the biblical Hebrew name Yaakov (Jacob), meaning "holder of the heel" or "supplanter." The spelling gained particular cultural prominence through the American rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, whose influence made the form widely recognizable in the mid-twentieth century. It is also used in Finland as a modern borrowed form. Related names include James, Jim, Jimmy, and Jamie.
