Joop

Joop is a Dutch familiar form of Johannes, itself the Latin rendering of the Greek Ioannes, which derives from the Hebrew name Yohanan meaning God is gracious. It developed as a colloquial short form widely used in the Netherlands, functioning in the same way that Jo or Jan does in other Germanic traditions.
