Josepha

Josepha is a feminine form of Joseph, itself derived from the Hebrew name Yosef, meaning he will add or God will increase, from the root yasaf. The name spread through Europe primarily via the biblical patriarch Joseph, son of Jacob, and was later reinforced by Christian veneration of Saint Joseph. Josepha saw particular use in German-speaking regions, notably borne by Maria Josepha of Austria, daughter of Empress Maria Theresa. Related forms include Josefa, Josephine, and Josefina.
