Jozef

Jozef is the Slovak, Dutch, and Albanian form of Joseph, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Yosef, meaning he will add or God will increase, from the root yasaf. The name was borne in the Hebrew Bible by the son of Jacob and Rachel, whose story of enslavement and rise to prominence in Egypt made it widely influential across Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions. The Polish form is Józef, the Slovene form is Jožef, and all trace back through Latin Iosephus and Greek Ioseph to the same Hebrew source.
