Juhan

Juhan is an Estonian form of John, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Yohanan, meaning God is gracious. It entered Estonian through Latin Iohannes and its Germanic intermediaries, following the spread of Christianity across northern Europe. The Sami variant Juhán carries the same heritage and reflects similar borrowing patterns across Finnic and Sápmi cultures. Related forms include Juhani, Juha, and Johannes.
