Justus

Justus is a Latin given name derived from the adjective justus, meaning righteous or just, itself rooted in jus, the Latin word for law or right. It was borne by several early Christian figures, including one of the candidates considered to replace Judas Iscariot among the apostles as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, and a number of early saints and bishops helped establish it as a name with strong ecclesiastical associations. The name remained in use throughout medieval Europe and experienced renewed popularity in German-speaking countries during and after the Reformation.
