Kévin is the French and Breton form of Kevin, an Anglicization of the Old Irish name Caoimhín, derived from the elements caomh, meaning gentle or kind, and the diminutive suffix -ín, giving an overall sense of little gentle one or beloved. The name was borne by Saint Caoimhín of Glendalough, a seventh-century Irish monk and hermit who became the patron saint of Dublin, spreading veneration of the name throughout the Christian world.
