Kajsa

Kajsa is a Swedish pet form of Katarina, itself the Scandinavian form of Katherine, which derives from the Greek name Aikaterine. The deeper Greek root is disputed, with proposed connections to the name of the goddess Hekate, to the Greek element katharos meaning pure, or to an unrelated foreign source. Kajsa has been a popular familiar name in Sweden for centuries and appears in Swedish folklore and literature, most notably in the figure Kajsa Kavat, a spirited fictional heroine.
