Klara

Klara is the Scandinavian, German, and Slavic form of the Latin name Clara, derived from the adjective clarus, meaning bright, clear, or famous. The name gained widespread use in medieval Europe largely through the influence of Saint Clare of Assisi, the thirteenth-century founder of the Order of Poor Ladies. It remains common across northern and central Europe in forms including Klára in Hungarian, Czech, and Slovak, and Klāra in Latvian, all tracing back to the same Latin root. The original Latin form Clara and the English Clare are its closest cognates.
