Kris

Kris is a short form of the Scandinavian and English name Kristoffer or Kristopher, themselves derived from the Greek Christophoros, meaning bearer of Christ, formed from Christos (the anointed one) and pherein (to carry). The name gained widespread use in medieval Europe through the legend of Saint Christopher, who was said to have carried the Christ child across a river.
