Kristijan

Kristijan is the South Slavic form of Christian, ultimately derived from the Latin Christianus, meaning follower of Christ, which itself traces back to the Greek Christos, the anointed one, a translation of the Hebrew Mashiach. The name spread throughout Europe with the growth of Christianity and was borne by numerous Scandinavian and European rulers, helping to establish its many regional forms. Related variants include Kristian, Christian, Kristijan's close Slavic neighbor Krišćan, and the Latinized Christianus, as well as feminine counterparts such as Kristijana.
