Laureen

Laureen is an English variant of Laura, which derives from the Latin laurus, meaning laurel tree, a plant associated in ancient Rome with honor, victory, and poetic achievement. The name entered widespread use in medieval Europe following the fame of Saint Laura of Córdoba, a ninth-century martyr, and was later popularized through the Italian poet Petrarch's celebrated sonnets addressed to a woman named Laura.
