Lavra

Lavra is the Slovene form of Laura, ultimately derived from the Latin laurus, meaning laurel tree. The laurel was a symbol of victory and honor in ancient Rome, used to crown poets and triumphant generals. The name gained wide use across Europe largely through veneration of the early Christian martyr Saint Laura of Córdoba. Related forms include Laura, Lara, Laurie, and Laurencia.
