Lavra

Lavra is the Slovene form of Laura, ultimately derived from the Latin laurus, meaning laurel tree. The laurel was a symbol of honor and victory in ancient Rome, famously associated with the crowning of poets and heroes. The name gained wide Christian use through Saint Laura, a ninth-century Spanish martyr. Related forms include Laura, Laurel, and the Italian Laura.
