Lolita

Lolita is a Spanish diminutive of Dolores, itself derived from the Latin word dolor, meaning pain or sorrow, and associated with the devotional title María de los Dolores (Our Lady of Sorrows). The name was traditionally given in honor of the Virgin Mary and carried devout religious connotations in Spanish-speaking cultures. Its international associations shifted dramatically after Vladimir Nabokov's 1955 novel of the same name, which caused the name to fall sharply out of use in many Western countries.
