Mabella

Mabella is a Latinate elaboration of Mabel, itself derived from the Old French Amabel, which traces back to the Latin amabilis, meaning lovable or worthy of love. The name enjoyed use in medieval England alongside Mabel and Amabel, all sharing the same root in the Latin verb amare, to love. Variant forms include Mabelle, Mabel, and Amabel, as well as the French Mabelle, which follows the same phonetic pattern of adding a feminizing suffix.
